Printing text

I have windows XP/SP2 and I am using WORD. When I print the text is very
grey. Used Control Panel to see if I can change the printer output - even if
I select Black & White I still get the same results - seems to be printing in
Grey Scale - how can I increase the intensity of the printer output to give
me Black text??
 
color printers without a true
blank cartridge tend to printout
blacks like greys since they only
have red, yellows and blues to work with.

other than the above it may be
printer maintenance required, eg
cleanng the jets or using a print test
page and calibrate...
