printing slow

I've just purchased a powerful new computer. I've tried a number of times to
print a word doc and it is painfully slow. From the time I click 'print'
several minutes delay, to selecting 'current page' another minute or so
passes and then it is printed. Pre Service Pack 2 I never had this problem.
Any suggestions?

Hi Rick-

The 'power' of the computer really doesn't have much to do with print speed.

Is it possible that the new unit uses a different version of the OS? If so,
have you checked for an updated printer driver? Drivers also get corrupted,
so it may not hurt to reinstall a fresh copy of the same driver even if a
newer one isn't available.

Is the printer directly connected to your system or is it on a network? If a
network the problem may be on that end. If local, how are the connections &
cables?

Other factors can come in to play as well.
