Printing pdfs

Documents in pdf form open but the printer says ready to print, but....no
printing begins. I have Acrobat 9 reader installed. What can I do to print
these important documents? Is there another pdf reader available?

Vista Home Premium 32bit
Lexmark X8350 (which prints everything except the commands from pdf)

Nothing wrong with Foxit, but your problem probably stems from how the
document was set up. When you click on the print button, you should get a
dialog box, click advanced at the bottom, then enable the box for 'print as
image'. Apply/ok your way out and it should print as expected.

Not sure why, but sometimes I have pdf print problems if I try to print
using the print menu/button in the host application or browser. I have the
appropriate browser plug ins, but it still is inconsistent. If you see
multiple print possibilities make sure you choose the one in Acrobat. Maybe
you'll get lucky.

I have tried to print from the pdf "Print", the Lexmark "Print", and the
File "Print" - nothing! When I click on the Advanced tab, nothing happens or
the dialog box closes.

Hi,

It's possible your installation of Acrobat is damaged and it should be
reinstalled. It's also possible that there is something interfering with
your print spooler, possibly malware. If other documents print ok, then I
would suspect that there is a problem with the document itself that you are
looking at.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe 9 - no improvement. The document is the
second pdf I couldn't print out. I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer
driver too. Nothing seems to work, as the Advanced tab just closes the
dialog. If it's malware, how would I know? How can I get rid of it? I use
One Care.

I installed Foxit and set it to be the default pdf reader, but when the
document came up (after I uninstalled Adobe 9 the first time), IE told me I
didn't have a reader and I couldn't get it to recognize Foxit. The document
is from a government bulletin (fishery) and they suggest it be printed so I
don't think it's a security issue.

It did install Foxit, but I couldn't get the pdf set-up to recognize it. It
just told me I needed a pdf reader and suggested Adobe. If I knew how to
have the pdf go to Foxit, I would use it.

I found a roundabout way to print the pdf with Adobe - I sent the document
to myself as an e-mail and when I opened the attachment and went to Print,
the Dialog let me go to Advanced and I was able to Print Image.

There must be an easier way but at least I was able to copy the document
this time. Thanks for all help and, if you can think of anything else to
try, it will be appreciated.

Have you printed .pdf documents before? In other words, is this a recent
problem? Has something been changed recently?

I'm beginning to believe this is not a .pdf problem but something else, but
you might try a document converter, e.g. .pdf to .doc. I have not used
them, but there are free ones online -- google pdf to doc converter. If you
are able to print Word documents this might work.
