printing notes with NO page number

I'm using PP 2007 and working with the Notes Master. I've attempted to remove
the page number but no matter what I do the page number appears on the notes
page when I view. I've deleted the "<#>" in the notes master, still the page
number printed, I've deleted the text box that contains the slide number
still the page number prints. In the notes master if I right-click and select
"Notes Master Layout" the option for "Page Number" is grayed out and checked.
I assume that if it were not grayed out I could remove the check mark and
eliminate the page number. All of the options are grayed out. For now I'd
like to remove other options as well, e.g. header and footer.

I found my own solution - View the Notes Master and move the preplaced items
(page number, footer, header and date) so they are off of the page.
