I would like to print the name, date and amount on my personal checks using
Word either by the envelope or label program or a new program. Thank you for
your help.

If the cheques can physically be handled by your printer then simply create
a document using a borderless table of fixed cell dimensions to position the
elements you wish to add. Put form fields in the cells as appropriate, or
create a userform with associated macros to place the data. For the basics,
see Word MVP FAQ - Userforms
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Userforms.htm

for a more in depth explanation, see
http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/Create_and_employ_a_UserForm.htm

Note that there is no standard layout. Each bank uses its own format.

Check with the supplier of your checks - odds are they have a template
available that will work with Word.
