printing from MS Works on XP

I have installed HP 6110xi all-in-one printer with
Windows 2000 XP Home Edition. I am unable to print from
Microsoft Works (version 4.5) with error messages "no
default printer selected" and/or "printer driver is
missing or invalid" depnding on type of printer command
(from file menu vs. printer icon). I am able to print
from all other sources/programs. The HP is designated the
default printer. Incompatibility? Do I have to get MS
Works version 7.0 to solve this? No support from MS. No
solution from HP.
