In am trying to set up printing between computers.

I have a LAN at home connecting 4 computers, one of the
computers is running XP and has a printer attached to that
computers. All the computers can print to this computer
that has the printer attached. All these computers are in
the same Workgroup.

When I bring my work laptop home from work and connect it
to my LAN at home it works fine, but I can not set it up
to print. My work computer is assigned to a Domain.

The problem appears to be accessing my home computers
(workgroup) from a domain based computer. Is there a way
to set up my network so it will allow my work computer to
print on my home network when it is connected to my home
LAN?

Accessing workgroup resources, from a laptop that's been joined to a domain, is
a reasonably simple task.

Simply setup a common userid, with identical, non-blank password, on both the
laptop, and the computer with the printer.

Ensure that the laptop has network connectivity (either using DHCP, or the
correct fixed ip settings). Login to the laptop with the userid / password
setup on the computer with the printer.

The computer with the printer will be found under Network Neighborhood (My
Network Places) - Entire Network - Microsoft Windows Network. Setup the
printer, using whatever setup procedures / wizard are available.

Thanks for your quick reply, I will try it, but before I
do can you clarify one point. When you refere to
the "userid" that has to be the same on both computers, do
you mean the name of the computer as it appears on the
network or do you mean the user account like on XP where
you have many users with different account names

Userid = User Account. Computer name is irrelevant (tho must be unique on the
network ;-} ).
