Printing envelopes

I simply cannot get XP Home to print an envelope. I can
print documents just fine on my Lexmark 45; however,
envelopes won't print. The print command appears, the
printer acts like it is printing and pulls the envelope
through, but the envelope is blank (and I am sure I
placed it in the correct spot). Any ideas? Thanks.

Just for laughs, put regular paper in the printer and then print an
envelope. You may have to press the paper feed button on the printer to
feed a sheet after you click on "print." Does anything print on the
paper? If so, you probably aren't putting your envelopes in the right
spot, even though you are sure you're right.

If nothing prints, post back and describe what software you are using to
print envelopes.

To answer my own question, if anyone else has this
problem:

Apparently, with the Lexmark driver, black ink envelopes
print from the color cartridge, not the black ink
cartridge. So, if the color cartridge is empty, as mine
was, the envelope will print blank. So, after three
hours of downloading new drivers, etc. I just need a
cartridge. Brother.

That is standard.... the printer uses magenta ink to make the black ink look
'blacker'. No color ink, no print. It's one reason to use separate ink
tanks for each color. Magenta is nearly always the first to run out, and it
seems a real waste of time and $s to replace the tank when it's still got
plenty of yellow and cyan. Separate ink tanks means just replacing magenta.
