Printing And Page Numbering ?

B

Bob

Hello,

Using WORD 2007 and Windows 7

Have a document of several pages in length,
Two questions, please:

a. How can I print with having the pages numbered (at the bottom of
each page), but the numbers NOT becoming part of the Saved document when
I am through with the printing? e.g., the numbers printed only this once.

b. How can I make the page numbering permanent to the document ?
e.g., they will be there whenever the document is printed, without
having to do anything additional ?

Thanks,
Bob

Insert the page number to both the top and bottom of your document
(into both the header and footer). Then select the page number and
right click it. Select "Font," and then check the box that says
"hidden." This will make the page numbers hidden text that you will
not see when normally viewing the document. When you print the
document, go to options and check "Print hidden text." Now the page
numbers will show up in your printed document.

I'd use a macro to format the page number field in white color when you don't
want it to display or print. For example, this can be done by intercepting the
FilePrint and FilePrintDefault commands. You may want to ask in a programming
group; that way, you'll get the very best assistance.

Well,

if you want to have your numbers to be available for printing only you can do two things.

Insert your page numbers
Print
Do not save changes.

Alternatively you can change the color of the page number to white so they merge with the background and nobody will see them.
