I have a need to print a piece of paper about 2'6" long by about 5" wide.

I suspect that no laser printer would contemplate such an item, certainly
not if it employed a transfer belt.

An inkjet could probably do it, if only one could discover the correct
incantations to the print program. My starting point is a postscript file.

Make sure that in the specifications they can print "banner" images.

Usually those can print on roll paper.

In the paper size its usually custom size which has to be set.

Most A4 printers will only print A4 not roll paper. The printer
programme is the restriction.

A3 printers should print roll paper. have a look at these specs they
mention roll paper.

Just look at the specs.

There are third party printer programmes that enable printing of banners
but still come out in A4 sheets.
