printers on network

I have a XP Pro as the main pc and several W98
workstations. The XP Pro has the printer (shared) (epson
stylus pro xl), But I cannot get the w98 pc's to print.
All the get is the following "Access code is invalid" and
the printer is set to print offline.
The printer on the W98 is on a captured printer port (LPT1)

Any ideas?
 
Further information

The W98 pc's can see the xp shared folders etc..
The sharename is less than 12 characters
there isn't a "security" tab on the printers properties to
enable me to setup individual users.
If I reboot the XP back into W98 (dual boot) the printer
is available and all can use it.
