Printers disappear - reboot restores

Ever since I installed a new hp photosmart 7550 printer,
I've been experiencing the following strange behaviour:
All printers disappear periodically from control panel.
This is discovered after an attempt to print results
in "no printer installed" message. After a reboot, all
installed printers reappear and everything works fine.
This sequence has occured multiple times.

please help.

It sounds like your print spooler is stopping.

When the printers disappear, from the command prompt, type

net start spooler

(and hit enter)

Do they reappear?
