Printer woes

I have had my Brother HL-1240 hooked up to my XP/ Home puter for a long time,
and suddenly, everything I send to the print queue never makes it there! The
little printer icon shows up in the lower righthand screen as if it's got an
active document, but by the time I clickk on the icon to open the queue
window, the doc's not listed anymore and nothing ever prints.
