Printer status msgs to wrong desktop user login

I have an HP Photosmart 8250 printer installed on my desktop via USB. It
always displays status messages that require a reply to the first user to
logon to the machine after booting. So if the 2nd user is logged on and
printing, and a printer status msg. arises, this 2nd user can't see it unless
switch user and logon as the first user. There will be the display of the
message!

If the 1st user has logged off (instead of switching users...) the messages
still don't appear for the 2nd user. In this case must also log on as the
1st user and there will be the message - even though this user has actually
logged off earlier instead of a switch user occurring.

HP tells me this is because of spoolsv.exe.

Any ideas. This is a real nuisance

I have turned off all "extra" functionality for this printer. I have
installed the latest driver. I have worked w/HP support engineer. Problem
does not go away. Typical example... Using manual duplexing means that
when all the odd-numbered pages are printed a msg. displays saying to turn
the stack of printed pages around and click "OK." Unhappily, if I am the 2nd
user this message will appear to the 1st user's session. I actually have to
switch over to log in to that user, reply to the message, then switch back to
my own session.

Turn off the HP status software it only posts status to session 0.

HP may also have a fix for this. IS there a newer driver available at
HP.com?
