Printer Sharing XP to Vista

P

PlumCreekJoe

Hello,

I have an XP Home Edition desktop with two printers connected to it via USB.
I am trying to share the printers to a newer Vista laptop. I have
successfully shared folders from both computers to the other. I can add a
printer from the Vista laptop on the XP desktop. But, when I try to add a
printer from the XP desktop to the Vista laptop (which is what I really need
to do), it does not work. It can see the printers, but when I try to add
them, it displays the message "Windows cannot connect to the printer. Access
is denied." I get the same message for all of the printers.

Can anyone suggest any possible remedies?

Thanks,
Joe

I downloaded and installed the Vista printer driver locally on my laptop,
with the port set to the \\computername\printername, and this worked! Thanks
for your help!

You're welcome.

Thanks for reporting back! It's always good to know what worked.
