two computers running windows XP Home. desktop uses cable moden with
wireless router for laptop. printer is network ready and is connected thru
the wireless router to the desktop. can print from desktop with no problem,
internet connection thru laptop is fine, BUT I CANNOT SEEM TO SET UP MY
PRINTER SHARING CORRECTLY between the two computers. i just want to be able
to print wirelessly from the laptop and share folders on the desktop with the
laptop. What am I doing wrong. Why can't the laptop find the printer? did I
miss a step ? I'm lost and do not know where to go from here. Can anyone
please help, or send me in the right direction. confused and frustrated.

Because this is a "network ready" printer connected to your router (rather than,
say, connected to your desktop with a USB cable), it probably is not really a
Microsoft-style "network printer" and is not "shared" by any setting on the
desktop. Rather, you just have to install it on the laptop. See
http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/Printing to Print Server device.htm
for directions. You will need to know the printer's IP address. You may be able
to get this from the printer properties on your desktop or by printing a printer
configuration page from the printer's front panel controls. See the printer
manual.
