Printer Patching Strategies

How does everyone update printer firmware and drivers? Does everyone
do this process manually with the help of tools like webjetadmin or by
using FTP?

Does anyone have an automated process or product they use for patching
printer-related software?

Any and all advice on printer patching would be helpful...

Periodic checks with the manufacturer would suffice.
Many of my friends including myself use Everest Home Edition
by Lavalys which has built-in links to check for updates of drivers
and firmware for your entire PC. I have not heard the term of
"patching" in many years. It was used then to add features or
other functions to hardware or software.
