Printer not responding...

I am trying to get my printer to work. It has been uninstalled and
reinstalled several times but not because there was a hardware problem. I've
changed the cable (USB), tried unplugging, plugging, restarting and all that
about a hundred times. I've done everything in the troubleshooting folder.
It still says printer not responding. Maybe I should mention that I recently
deleted and reinstalled XP because of viruses and spyware. THe printer is a
Canon Multipass730.
