Printer not recognized and unable to re-install

My printer suddenly disappeared from my Windows XP pro
pc. When I tried to "add a new printer" I get the error
message: "Operation could not be completed." Through some
research I found an article suggesting that the print
spooler wasn't running. I tried starting it under
the "services" page and I get an Error 1068 message: "The
dependency service or group failed to start." Its startup
mode is set to automatic. I tried to start the print
spooler manually by keying in "net start spooler" at the
Run prompt, but still nothing. I am logged in as
administrator and the printer has been working fine for 3
months when it was first installed. No software was added
or changes made to the system prior to this problem
occuring. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I'm having exactly the same problem, if I find anything
out I'll let you know. But it's strange that this is
happening after months of no printing problems ?!?

Cheers

Matt
