Printer installation

I am trying to connect 2 printers via an A/B switch box
to my computer. I have a data transfer cable linking the
switch box to the CPU @ LPT1. There are printer cables
going from the switch box to each printer. I cannot get
the printers to respond at all when linked through the
switch box. If I connect them directly (1 at a time) to
the CPU @ LPT1 they work.
If there is some setting I am missing or am I using the
wrong cables, I would appreciate your help/advise

Some printers do not like manual switch boxes.. use an "auto switch"

Paul, make sure the cable from your pc [I'm assuming your
using the 25pin] to the AB box is good, you may have to
check continuity on all pins. Also check continuity
through the pins on the AB Box. I like manual boxes
because they don't need a driver and no need for an AC
adapter. I can't tell from your post if you are using a
powered AB Box, if you are make sure the driver is
installed and working. As a printer tech I usually start
with the cables, are they plugged in, no pins bent,
etc... then work my way to the computer and printer.
