printer icon in system tray

i was running on W2k-sp2... my computer was infected by
the blaster worm a few months ago... although i got rid of
it, the system ran very slow...

i re-formatted the hard drive and re-loaded w2k, and this
time, i loaded sp4 (instead of sp2)...

previously, when i printed something, a "printer icon"
appeared on the system tray in the bottom right...

now, there is no printer icon...

the only change is that i went from sp2 to sp4 during the
clean install..

how can i get that icon to show up again when printing....

please advise - thx...

I have SP 4 and the icon shows. What kind/brand name of printer do you have?
Did you load the printer's drivers? Did you load the motherboard drivers
after doing the clean install?

thanks for the reply...

this computer is on a network... the printer is connected
to a different computer on the network.. it is a HP5P
laserjet...

w2k recognized the network printer and there was no need
to install any printer drivers...

the motherboard is a BX motherboard... using a Celeron
chip... once again, w2k recognized the motherboard, and
there was no need to load any drivers...

puzzling, huh?....

please advise
