Printer goes offline on reboot

Laserjet 6P attached to DLink DP-300U Print Server. OS is XP SP3.
Whent the computer boots, the Laserjet is shown as off line. When deleted
and reinstalled it works fiine. But when the computer reboots, the printer
is again off line.

A Vista Machine attached to the same network and printserver works 100% of
the time.

Any ideas?

If you are using the Standard TCP/IP Port monitor. Disable SNMP in the port
configuration.

If you are not using Standard TCP/IP Port, what is the port type and is it
the same as the Vista machine?

When I open the printer, properties, ports, configure ports, i get an error
message that says the opreation is not supported. So I can not configure
SNMP.

It is a standard TCP/IP port.

I thought this is the same port as in Vista.

the Standard TCP/IP Port in Win2k and greater is absolutely configurable.
Either someone hijacked the port or the port data in the registry is messed
up and thus leading to the failure. Create a new Port using the same
settings as the Vista machine.

Deleted the port. Rebooted. Reinstalled, configured and selected existing
driver. It works.

Thanks
