Printer driver message

Every time I print a document to my wireless networked printer I get a
message saying that the printer driver must be installed before the printer
can be used.

However, the document has already printed out.

How can I stop this message from cropping up please?

Background:
Canon MP830 is attached to a Windows XP desktop and shared across the
network. It is used by other wireless devices, both XP and Win2000.

A new laptop came with Vista. It recognizes the networked Canon MP830, and
says it wants to install drivers, but then errors out trying to connect to it.

Canon USA advised downloading the latest Vista drivers to the laptop, and a
new port was created for the printer, defining the pathname to the printer.
The printer now works great when printed to from the laptop, but an error
message crops up simultaneously saying that printer drivers still need to be
installed. I cannot defeat this message. I assume it comes from Vista, but am
not sure.

Gateway (laptop) have given me the brushoff, saying they can't support the
issue, Canon say they are only responsible for the printer itself. Microsoft
will not address a concern on an OEM copy of Vista. Charlatans, the lot of
them.

I would appreciate any help with this issue. Thank you.

Ian

PS. Clicking on properties for this printer causes the properties window to
hang.

Did you install the latest Vista compatible drivers for the printer?
