printer drive won't delete in XP home

Having trouble deleting a printer driver from both the
control panel/printers delete and control
panel/printers/file/server properties/drivers/remove.

control panel/printers delete attempt says "deleting". no
change even when i reboot the computer.

control panel/printers/file/server
properties/drivers/remove says "cannot remove, the
specified printer is currently in use". i've tried with
both the printer turned on and off. i do not see any
print jobs in the queue.

any help would be appreciated.

Try stopping the print spooler first.

From the command prompt, type

net stop spooler

And hit enter.

Then try the removal again.
