Print without Saving

How can I print without saving? When I try to print, the pop up 'Save File' comes up, and I don't want to save the file! HELP!

This must be something generated by an add-in, as I frequently print unsaved
documents without any pop-up.

Hi, Kathleen N. Instead of using the printer icon to print, click on File | Print, and check to see if the printer name in the menu is correct for the printer you want to print to. If not, select the printer you want. If the name is correct, then your printer driver is apparently configured to print to a file instead of to the printer. To fix this, click on Start | Control Panel | Printers, right-click on your printer name, then click on Properties | Port, and change the port to LPT1: or whatever port you have the printer attached to.

If you're printing to Acrobat this is unavoidable, because Acrobat insists
on saving the document first (because it has to close and re-open the
document).

To clarify some previous replies:

Acrobat insists on saving the document if you are using the ConvertToPDF
macro it installs in Word, but not if you print directly to the distiller
using File>Print and choose 'Acrobat Distiller' as the printer.

Before checking what port your printer prints from, go to File>Print and
check that 'Print to file' is unchecked. If it is checked, uncheck it and
try to print again.

This has changed with Acrobat 6. There's no longer an option.

You are mistaken. You can still print directly to the Adobe driver in
version 6, without the need to save the document first. Printing to the
driver does not give the same functionality as the macro.

As for the original question, I would be looking for a FilePrint macro that
has changed the behaviour of the print function to require a save first.

Well, there is, but the printer is called "Adobe PDF" instead of "Acrobat
Distiller."
