'print subsystem unavailable' error

Hi all. This is a Win2K Pro workstation on a Win2K
network. Several printers are on the server, one is a
local laserjet. If I leave the pc for a couple of hours,
upon coming back to it the printers are disconnected. If
you right-click to get the properties of any printer, the
error message 'print subsystem unavailable' is presented.

I have stopped/restarted the print spooler service and it
doesn't help. The only way I've been able to fix it is to
re-boot the pc. Then it's fine -- until I leave it for a
few hours again.

Anyone have any ideas as to what's causing this? Thanks
in advance.

Installing Win2K SP4 on this computer fixed the problem.
Thanks for nothing! hehe. j/k.

This kept happening to me as well. I finally discovered
that it happened whenever anyone made a remote connection
to the the server. Now I'm trying to figure out why the
printer subsystem is being dropped when I remotely
connect.
