Have you had issues where Vista's Print Spooler service does not "remain"
started.

For some reason, on this client's new Vista Business workstation, I have to
keep going into the Control Panel's Service app and hit "Start" on the Print
Spooler service.

The service is configured to automatically start and I'm using the Local
System account for the Log On tab.

Any ideas?

I have a similar problem. I installed Vista SP1 yesterday. Today, I
started getting nastygrams after booting: "Spooler subsystem app stopped
working and was closed". The day before I installed SP1, I used the
Recovery drive to completely replace Vista (Home Premium) to a 'Factory
condition'. There's no printers connected to the PC, and no printers shown
in the Control Panel. The message appears following booting, and then about
every 5 minutes after I close it (the message). I've turned spooler
services on & off to no avail.

The only printer drivers are the ones that came with the O/S. How do I fix
this problem?

There is a corrupted printer driver somewhere in the system which is
causing the Spooler to fail.
