Is there any way to automate the restarting of the spooler
service? Any reply would be appreciated.
 
Yes
Can't find a good KB article at Microsoft.com

but

Start / Programs / Administrative Tools / Services
Locate Print Spooler and open properties
There is a Recover tab on the service. Change the action to Restart the
Service.

You can have a different action for the 1st, 2nd and subsequent failure

Go to services klick properties. Look at tab recovery.
I think you find what your looking for.
