print spooler

Well i have tryed everything to get the print spooler to work and it won't
gateway blames lexmark and lexmark blames gatweway.I think it is windows xp.I
have even tryed to redue xp and the darn pc won't down load.It tells me to
restart the pc to it can finish the the down load ,so i restart the pc and
nothing happens.Just trying to get the pc in safe mode is a chore.Anyone have
any ideals what else to do??I have tries restarting the spooler but it won't
take.it just like stoped all of a sudden with my norton .I have no viruses
and no spyware in my pc and i can not rboot back for some reason . any ideals

The trick sometimes is when xp shows,"found new hardware" it asks for cd
to copy the installation files,let it,but before it exits,you need to
install the
software,once software gets installed,click the ok button to let xp finish..
