PRINT SCREEN button

I just want to know how I make the PRINT SCREEN button work while I am using
a tutorial that was made available through an email.
I press PRINT SCREEN...nothing happens.
I press ALT + PRINT SCREEN ... nothing happens.
Can I use PRINT SCREEN in any program?

It actually takes a 'capture' of the screen. The Printscrn button is from
early computer days when it did send a screen dump to a printer. But with
today's modern PC's it merely captures the active screen or window.

Maybe the button should be "SrcnCptre" for "Screen Capture" which is what
that button does.

Really early. I don't ever recall it doing that, honestly, with any
Microsoft OS.

As others have stated, the PrintScreen button only does a
screen capture in Windows. Alt-Printscreen also does a
capture, but only of the active window

Solutions:
1. Use MSPaint as previously suggested
2. There are printscreen programs (American Systems-Print
Screen Deluxe) which will automatically print the captured
image.

I cannot tell for sure from your post, but it looks like you
may only want text. You can do a CTRL-A (or use >Edit
Select All) and copy the actual text and paste that into
what ever text editor/word processor that you want

Well, I remember it.

All I have to do now is to remember where I remember it from

My working experience from 1962 to 2003 would have covered many computers.

But who knows where or when ??

I never mentioned it was a *Microsoft* thing (the screen print actually
*printing* the screen); the PrntScrn button usually sent a screen dump to
printers - probably on unix or other OS networks.

I never said Print Screen was a *Windows* function.....merely the function
of the button at some time in history actually sent a screen dump to a
printer.
