print queue issues with the Canon i560

I replaced my Epson c82 with the Canon i560 before
Christmas and the print quality is superb, however
whenever I try to do routine maintenance such as
cleaning, nozzle checks and head alignments the printer
sends "documents" or jobs to the print queue and they
stay pending in the queue long after the printing is
done; sometimes as long as 10 minutes. I returned the
printer to Best buy and the Canon rep tried the same
maintenance and the problem did not happen. You have the
option to clean the black ink cartridge or the color
cartridges or both. This only happens when you choose
the color or both, but not when you choose black only. I
really love the quality of the Canon but just want it to
work correctly, Help Nat

Are you using the USB connection? (this is the much better connection than
the LPT/Parallel)

Did you totally unistall the Epson first?
