Print email to show attachments

T

Tracey

When I print out sent emails with attached documents for
my records I would like the icons for those attached
documents to show up so I have a hard copy record of
actually having sent them. Right now when I print an
email that I sent with attachments I get -

From:
To:
Cc:
Subject:

Text of email....

and even though there is also an attachment line, it
doesn't show up in my printed emails.

Hi Tracey,

What you are describing is a bug in Microsoft Outlook. You can change the
print format to plain text, and then the icons will show up. This problem
is acknowledged by Microsoft at http://support.microsoft.com/?id=821840.

After a while, that becomes a bother. So I have written two Outlook
2000/2002 add-ins that have to do with printing. One will automatically
print incoming or outgoing email messages. You can optionally choose to
print the attachments or not (but the attachment filenames and the total
count of the attachments is always printed). It's called Auto Print.

The other is called Print On Demand. It installs two buttons in your
email viewer. The first button prints the email including the number of
attachments and the names of the attachments. The second button prints just
the attachments. You can find them both at http://www.SperrySoftware.com.

Hope this helps!
