print attachment icons

several people, including me, have posted questions
regarding problems getting attached document icons to
show up in a printed email. This should solve the
problem:

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=821840

basically, you need to have mail formatted in either rich
text or plain text. The icons will not show up in Html.

Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 821840 states that to
solve this printing problem with the attachments you are
to e-mail (send out); is to change the e-mail format
to "plain text" or "rich text" instead of "HTML" format.
Great so far so good.

But for the messages you recieved in your inbox; it says
that you are to :
1.Open the message
2. On the Format menu, click either Plain Text or Rich
Text; well, my outlook does not have this option
available, now what shall we do?
3. The article mentioned that you must first click "Edit
message" on the "Edit" menu; but this option takes me to
a "word document" even after I unchecked this option (and
actually doing this "extra step" does not help at all).

Does anyone knows how to solve this problem, 821840 is
just a partial solution. Thanxs in advance...

The problem with sending emails with attachments out in
rich text is that some recipients cannot read them. The
attachment is blown apart into garbled message.
Plain text is too basic. The best format is HTML, however
as we know the attachment icon is not printed. I've got
SP1 added to my Outlook 2002. I'm not sure if this is the
solution, but with my version I can compose in rich text
but then there is a setting under Tools-Options-Mail
Format-Internet Format that allows composing in rich text
but then converts all outgoing to HTML. I'm therfore able
to print out my sent email with the attachment icons
showing and still have the email sent as HTML.
