Prinitng on index cards

In MS Word 2000, I cannot seem to print on index cards
landscape. I have tried every combination of landscape
and portrait settings both in the page setup as well as
the printing options. It either prints out portrait, or
the printer completely misses the card and tries to print
as if it's an 8.5" x 11". I even tried to put the cards
in with the long side forward, but the printer still was
too far over to center on the card.

Anyone else experienced this?

Have you tried defining a custom page size? File - Page Setup - Paper tab.
Set Paper Size to Custom Size, and set this to the index card's dimensions.

Portrait/landscape should simply reflect how the index cards are being
inserted into the printer vis-a-vis how you want them printed. If you're
inserting them with the longer side going in first, and you want them
printed "normally", then choose Portrait (before setting their custom size).
If you want to insert the narrower size first, and want them printed
normally, then choose landscape.

The other issue is exactly how you insert. On my printer, I'd have to center
them to get the desired effect. My page guide widens/narrows symmetrically,
making this an easy process. Your printer's druthers might vary, however.
