.prf and LDAP issue

I just used the OCT toi create a custom .prf file with our LDAP and email
server. Everything seems to work fine EXCEPT LDAP, which gives me a "Bad
search filter" error. However, when I delete the LDAP server and create it
manually, with the same search filter, everything works flawlessly...anybody
have any ideas? My prf is posted below:

I am having this exact same issue. Outlook 2003 had no problems setting up an LDAP address book (our domain controller) from a PRF file, but 2007 only coughs up "Bad search filter" errors. This has become a huge road block in our deploying Office 2007. I am not looking forward to configuring 3 address books for over 200 people. Has anyone found a solution yet?

Look at the last line of [Service1] in Section 4:

CheckNames=

Replace that to read:
CheckNames=(&(mail=*)(!(mail=%s*)(customerID=%s*)))


I just did that on my PRF file and all our LDAP address books are working correctly now. The search filter is saved in the registry and is supposed to get imported from this value. If this value in the registry is empty, it is supposed to fall back to the default search filter. Obviously, some piece of software isn't doing what it's supposed to. I'm surprised more people haven't run in to this.

I found lots of information on the Outlook 2007 PRF format here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc179232.aspx#section3 . Thanks to that reference, I was able to fix this problem. Hopefully this works for you too.

Sorry for the double post. Also, I should have waiting a few minutes before posting because I just found out that it is better just to delete or comment out that CheckNames line. If you use what I posted above, checking names doesn't work right. I guess that search filter was just an example of a custom one and probably wouldn't work right in most setups. I deleted the line all together and everything is working as it should.
