Preventing installation of Firefox?

Hello

I have to share a desktop with a work colleague whom, I notice, everytime I
log in with my credentials on Win XP pro, I notice has downloaded and
installed Firefox (I use IE7).

Is there a way of preventing Firefox from being downloaded/installed?

Thanks.

That's ``who,'' not ``whom.'' It's the subject of ``has downloaded,''

takes on the case that goes with its function in the clause.

It's safer to use ``who'' everywhere, if you can't tell the
difference.
That's generally acceptable in Modern English.

But (hopefully) on a more positive note, I suspect your colleague has
installed Firefox as the default browser on the shared computer. Even
so, that should not cause problems, provided each person has a separate
"User" identity - because individual "Users" should be able to store
their own configuration preferences.

Maybe you share the same "User" identity as your colleague, when you log
in to Win XP on the shared desktop computer ?? If so, I recommend you
create a separate User identity for your personal use.

If you have your own identity already, you should open Control Panel and
click on Internet Options. Then, select the Programs tab - to see
whether Firefox is the default web browser. If necessary, click on the
"Make Default" option - to restore IE as the default.

That should also resolve the immediate problem, even if you share the
same User identity with your colleague. However, next time he uses the
computer, he will find that Firefox is no longer the default browser -
and will probably want to reverse your changes.

Incidentally, there is no reason why Internet Explorer and Firefox
cannot co-exist peacefully on the same computer. You can open either
browser by clicking on the appropriate icon on your desktop - or via
Start | All Programs.

Exactly! ....and anyway, FF is cleaner, faster & lets you go where
(not many) men have gone before, SteveH :)
