Preventing auto logoff of Admin account

I have what I hope is a simple question.

I installed and run SSH on XP Home to access it through putty from work. I
logged on with my Admin account and headed off to work. When I tried to
access it, login was denied. When I got home I found that I had to log in
again. The setup is fine as it was tested last night.

So the question is, how can I keep the system Admin account kept open during
the day? Or do I just need to add a limited user account for myself and log
into that each morning?

Thanks

Was it "logged off" or was it simply "locked" and you had to re-enter your
password?

It is more likely it was merely locked when you got home. Check your
screensaver settings. If you have it "Returning to Welcome Screen" or
something similar - then it was locked - not logged off - and everything you
had running would still be running when you unlocked the account.

Does your machine have a public or private IP address and if private
(192.168.x.x usually) --> have you forwarded the proper ports through your
NAT device/Router?

Yes, it was locked, not logged off. I had forgotten the screensaver would do
that. Thanks a lot.

I just have one computer on a home LAN, so it drove me nuts when the system
suddenly started logging me off--only it was locked, not logging me
off--whenever I wandered off for a while. The setting must have been changed
when I fiddled with the desktop theme a while ago.

I've been searching for the answer in all kinds of security settings and not
finding anything. Now I know why.

Thanks! Now I can wander off and come back without having to deal with my
mouse (I need that to unlock the system; then I can use my stylus again).
