Prevent Printing of items

I have a presentation that I want to print out as a handout. To get the
animation I require in the slides there are certain items (text boxes etc)
that I want in the presentation but not in the handout. Is there an option to
not print items and going a stage further entire slides?

At the moment the easiest way I have found is to create a duplicate
presentation and delete unwanted items but I can only do this when the
presentation is complete and I don't want to make any further changes.

Thanks

Thanks for your response David,

I'm using my work laptop and the company prevent all dowloads so can't put
any add-ins onto my computer is a complete pain, I can write my own though.
I'm familiar with VBA but have only really used it in Excel I don't suppose
this could be a way forward (VBA not Excel).

Well, if I were to try to do something like this using VBA, I would
probably tag all the shapes that I wanted to not print. Then, it would
be fairly easy for VBA to cycle through all the slides checking for the
tag and hiding the no-print items. Then, it could print. Then, it could
unhide the items. I have not done anything this extensive, but I have
done it for one pre-determined shape. You can see the example I have by
going to my Web site:

Click on More Tricks and look for Trick #3. It is much simpler than what
you want to do, but it does hide a shape for the printing of a single
slide.

Also, keep in mind that VBA in PowerPoint is a bit different from VBA in
other applications. You might want to check out the Programming
PowerPoint section of the PPT FAQ:
