Prevent Frontpage creating a virtual directory

I have recently upgraded my server to Win2K3, however, since then when
publishing with Frontpage, it also creates a virtual directory.

How do I prevent this?

Publish to the root of the server however FrontPage will create a virtual
directory based on the Home Directory location you chose in IIS. This is
normal and you want this if you intend to be able to host more than one
site. Otherwise point your home directory to WWWROOT

Yes but in previous versions publishing to http://serverName/siteName
created a subweb, but not a vertial directory in IIS. Creating the subweb
is the desired action however, I dont want to create the Virtual Directory
in IIS. This means I need to go into IIS and remove the application to
allow the subwebs to pick any global.asa from the root web.

Do you have the FP extensions installed? You can only have a single global.asa file per application
root.

If you do that then it's not a sub web anymore.

If a subweb has also been created as a virtual directory in IIS, it can also
have a separate global.asa. A virtual directory is an application.

This is the problem, i dont want this.

What happen when you open the root web in FP and then create a folder, then convert the folder to be
subweb?

exactly

think am not explaining....

i only want it to be a subweb, but when I publish the site it is changed to
a virtual directory. I dont want this, I want it to stay as a subweb

If you don't want this then you don't want a sub web. Sub webs are virtual
directories / application roots and act independently of the root which
means you can NOT share a global.asa from the root but you can have a
separate on in the sub web (which would be unique to that sub web).

In other words, you want the subweb to be able to access the global.asa in the root web, correct?

FP subwebs have always been independent websites under a FP root web with the ability to be
application root.

Not when you created a subweb via FP.
