Prevent editing read-only files?

Hello,

is it possible to prevent users from editing a file when it is opened
in read-only mode (i.e. not changing the text at all)? This should be a
general feature (e.g. set as an option, not on single document level
like password protection). We are running Office 2003.

Hi David-

What you are looking for is in Tools>Protect Document. This works
differently than making a file Read Only.
