pressing "End" to move indicator to line-end;text disappears

I use Microsoft Word "Office"
Lately, when I press the keyboard's "End" key to move the cursor to the end
of the line the text vanishes. I can restore it by clicking the manual
control. I did not have this problem till recently.
Is the key-board at fault?
