Presetting font size and type face on footnote numbers

My footnote numbers are defaulting to regular typefaces and I am manually
re-formatting the footnote number, both in the text and in the footnote. I
cannot find any way to reset a default.

Check the definition of the Footnote Reference style. It should be Default
Paragraph Font + Superscript.
