prejecting a powerpoint presentation

when i connect my laptop to a projector it changes the apprearance on my
laptop sreen to larger, streches images. when projected the bottom of the
slide visible on the laptop is missed of the projected image on screen. How
can i sort this problem out?

All of this is totally dependent on a number of things. The operating
system, the video card, the projector ,etc. I would recommend that you
start by Googling projecting a PowerPoint presentation through a projector.
PowerPoint even has fairly good instructions (depending on your version) on
how to set up and troubleshoot projection issues.

Sometimes some projector are setup 800x600
Try this on your laptop but with a risk: if your pressentation wasn't 4x3
but 16x9 or 16x10 you could have distortion

The projected image is the standard 4x3 width (square), but your laptop is
widescreen. To keep things from distorting on your laptop display do this:

In your video card control panel, find 'change Flat Panel Scaling' and set
to 'use fixed-aspect scaling'. The names vary slightly depending on if you
are using Nvidia, ATI or Intel graphics hardware.

What this will do is force your laptop to stay in proportion to the
projected image. The left/right will be black (pillared) to keep the image
from stretching.
