I have read that the Layout.Ini file, in the Prefetch Folder, gets written
to everytime you boot up and it slows up the boot time. Can anyone tell me if
this folder can be edited, cleaned or what to speedup boot time?

It does no such thing. To the contrary, it monitors how your boot and
application files load into memory so that the next time you boot or run
these programs, they load up much faster. Also, defrag uses the layout.ini
file to optimize the placing of certain files on your hard drive as part of
the defrag process.

Bottom line: don't mess with your prefetch file. Prefetch is your friend.

Contrary to "what you have read", the prefetch folder and the layout.ini
file will improve the speed of your computer booting up - over time. It
takes 3 days or so for this to even begin to occur. Just leave it alone.
