I got tired of seeing the following error message in my system log:
The MCSTRM service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
So I uninstalled Real Player, thinking that would completely eliminate the
problem.
It had no effect, as the error message still appears in my system log. Next
I searched
for "real" and found these files in WINDOWS/Prefetch:
REALONEMESSAGECENTER.EXE
REALSCHED.EXE
REALPLAY.EXE
Actually they all have a little more to the file name, ending with .pf, but
you already
knew that. All of these files were installed from Real Player, so can I
simply delete
them? I'm running XP Pro SP2. Thanks.
