Prefetch corrupt file

Each time I log on I obtain a number of error messages here is an example:

WINDOWS\Prefetch\MAD.EXE-039COEAC. pf corrupt and unreadable

run chkdsk

When I run chkdsk it will tell me some things are "truncated" and others ,
for some reason it cannot fix (don't recall the wording)

You can delete all the files in the prefetch folder and Windows will
recreate each when needed.

Delete the Windows Prefetch files.
They are located: C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch directory.
After they are deleted it will take about 4 or 5 reboots for the PC to be
fully up to speed, you may notice that the first few reboots will be slower
than usual. After each reboot run and exit the applications you normally use
and then reboot again and repeat the process of running common applications.

I think you can simply delete everything in that folder and restart, see if
it happens again.

JS,

I'll try that, my first attempt was to delete the files, but the corrupt
message keeps showing up when I log into any of the four names on the
computer, just different file names within Prefetch. I'll be back online to
report my results.
