PPT Viewer should allow me to print the slides in Handout format.

The PowerPoint Viewer 2003 should allow me to print the slides in a different
format than just one slide per page. It should offer the same print options
as the regular PowerPoint offers, such as Handouts (printing 6 slides per
page). In my case, I downloaded PPT Viewer for college and don't want to
print 25 pages of notes each week.

I suspect the thinking on this is the free Viewer is exactly that -- a free
Viewer. It's not designed for ease of printing or anything more extensive
than viewing a presentation. Since you're a student, you might want to look
into Office Student and Teacher version.
http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/howtobuy/compare.mspx It's not
free, but it's much less expensive than the other versions. You won't be
able to upgrade it, though.

Also check your college bookstore. Many schools have Office available for
their students at very very low prices.

MS wants to leave you a few good reasons to buy the software rather than using the free version.

What I'd do in your case is ask your teacher for some help. What we've done with my wife's
courses is print 6-ups to PDF so her students can print those instead w/o having to own PPT.
