Re PowerPoint 97 and Win XP ----

If I use a PowerPoint presentation as a screen saver (100 slides), how much
of that is loaded into memory at once?

Not a clue, but if you start it up and then press Ctrl+Alt+Del and click
TaskManager, you can look at the PowerPnt.EXE process to see how much memory
and CPU it's consuming

As more slides you use as more memory you would use.

Is there a reason for you to use so many slides, you mentioned 100?

Personally I use a slide for screensaver and do this while Excel is
completing a macro job for me, in the screensaver there is only two slides
and the PowerPoint show then loop. When excel finish the job then it stops
the show.
This doesn't take much memory.

None other than using pictures from a Paris vacation.
