PPT hangs when asked to insert image from file

Suddently on one machine, PPT hangs when I ask it to insert an image from a
file. It works fine when asked to insert an image from clipart.

Any ideas?

When I've had that happen previosuly, it was the file extension on the image
file, which may have been recognized by your photo editor, but not by PPT,
especially if there is an error in it.

Give it a shot.
