PPT 2003 copying images out of PPT to another PPT-loss of quality

Hello,

I am an moderate-intermediate user of PPT, and am using PPT version 2003.
This morning my boss came into my office asking whether I knew about image
quality loss when copying images from one PPT into another PPT.

I have not had experience with image quality loss yet, but my question is...

Is image quality loss a problem when copying from one PPT to another?
Can anyone give me a little mini-background history on this if one is
available? I did a search on the community site for this question but did not
find a good answer. I appreciate all the help, and time spent answering my
post.

Best regards,
Lily

I personally don't not like to copy and paste. This leaves you vulnerable to
what the clipboard can handle. I prefer to save the image to my HD, and then
insert it into my presentation. To ensure your system has the best image
exporting resolution to meets your needs, look here

Lily,

I can't imagine there would be any loss of quality by copying and pasting an
image from one powerpoint to another.

Unless.... you have opted for powerpoint to compress the file. This can
cause loss of quality with images. This would only take affect after you've
saved your file.

Dear Michael Koerner,

I should explain this further. These PPTs are generated initially by
consultants we have who provide content for PPTs. Their process for gathering
images involves this copy from one PPT to another PPT step. I cannot
unfortunately dictate to these consultants that they should not do this.

When I create images I save them onto my HD so it is not a problem that is
created by me. What I want to be able to say to my boss is that unless our
consultants have access to the source material (which is unlikely) this is a
problem that I have no control over.

Thanks for your help! Have a great day.
Best,
Lily

Before you go to your boss with "unless our consultants have access to the
source material (which is unlikely) this is a problem that I have no control
over" and you have access to all the presentations you might open in the
slide sorter mode, right click and drag the file to copied slide into the
new presentation and select copy when you release you mouse button, then
drag the image from the imported slide onto the slide you want it on then
delete the extra slide and see it that makes it appear clearer.
